An individual approach to added value At Vétoquinol, we develop our product range with the veterinarian, owner, breeder and the target animal in mind. We concentrate on strong individual market areas and species we understand - dogs, cats, cattle and pigs - areas where we can add real value. In addition, to improve customer loyalty, our product range includes other proven classic medicines so that the group covers most therapeutic areas. Targeting disease Vétoquinol has identified three areas where our experience can make a difference and where the company hopes to become the recognised standard: Anti-infectives A key product for many years. Marbocyl®, the most popular antibiotic sold by Vétoquinol, has established itself well in the market. Vétoquinol has capitalised on this advantage by developing different families of antibiotics with protocols adapted for different species, combining effective treatment with respect for environmental concerns and the consumer. Pain Inflammation Minimising animal pain: this is a key ethical question and a major requirement in today’s society where animal well-being is increasingly significant. The Group is well represented in this sector with Tolfédine® for dogs and cats and Tolfine® for livestock. Cardiology / Nephrology Heart failure and renal failure are the most common chronic conditions in elderly dogs and cats. They affect both the life quality and expectancy of our four-legged friends. Vétoquinol is developing innovative therapeutic solutions in the increasingly significant area of cardiology-nephrology. In 2002, the group launched Prilium®, a completely new oral daily administration formula for dogs. Thanks to an original formulation from Vétoquinol R&D, a long-lasting treatment is now available for companion animals. Targeting species At Vétoquinol, we are committed to increasing our knowledge of species in depth. While there is an enormous range of possible treatments, we aim to focus on the fundamentals with our key targets being the species we know well: Dogs and cats In a market sector where emotional concerns are paramount, owners are interested in medicines that are the equivalent of human medications for their pets. There is great sales potential in this growing market. Cattle and pigs Here economic considerations take precedence: Vétoquinol is constantly coming up with faster, cheaper treatments, whilst maintaining respect for both the animal and the consumer. Group strategy is to focus on these four species and override market fluctuations to maintain the constant high sales volumes necessary for a return on investment.
